Painting FAQ
Can I get an estimate over the phone or via email?
Painters who give you a quote over the phone without meeting you or visiting your home should be avoided. This is very unprofessional. We do not give estimates over the phone. Many variables need to be taken into account when providing an accurate proposal. A Fresh Coat estimator will meet you in person, ask you specific questions about your project to gain a full understanding of your painting needs and then provide you with a written detailed proposal including our detailed preparation and painting procedure for a typical home. We provide each homeowner we meet a consultation with our written processes. This allows them to easily understand the cost of painting their home the type of materials used and compare our proposal with another proposal.
Will your insurance agent provide me with a copy of your Certificate of Insurance?
Yes. Getting the Certificate of Insurance directly from the contractor’s insurance agent will provide you with assurance that the coverage is current. In addition to registering with Michigan – painting contractors are required to adhere to the following guidelines:
- The painting contractor is required to maintain statutory MA Worker’s Compensation insurance.
- The painting contractor must carry at least $500,000 Liability insurance per incident in order to be registered with Michigan as a Home Improvement Contractor
- If the painting contractor utilizes sub-contractors – they all must also meet the same insurance requirements.
If a painting contractor is not able to produce the appropriate insurance documents, do not hire them, as you may be responsible for any injuries or other accidents that occur and be liable for medical expenses and loss of wages. (Call the insurance carriers to verify the policies are still in effect.)
Will you provide a discount for multiple rooms and areas?
Yes. We will offer you a discount if you hire us to paint multiple properties and rooms at the same time. The amount of the discount will depend on how close together the projects are and how similar the rooms are to each other.
How do I get an estimate?
Just call Fresh Coat Painters at (978) 571-7192– Why Wait! It starts with your initial phone call to us, which is answered by a live person ready to schedule your appointment.
This means that field operations managers will receive your information immediately and resulting in a call back within an hour or sooner.
How long does it take to get an estimate?
Once we meet with you for a free consultation Fresh Coat will provide on location or within 24 hours, a detailed computer generated proposal with accurate measurements. Unlike other contractors who eye ball the job, give you a low number, and then raise the price after they start, because they did not do a thorough job of estimating up front.
Do I need to be home when you are working?
No, not all the time but we do ask that you be available each day so we can provide you with our daily update of progress and answer any questions you have of your painting project.
How long does it take?
Each painting project is different. We give our clients an approximate start and finish dates in our proposal as required by the State of Michigan. Once we start your project, we stay on it each day until we are finished unless there are circumstances beyond our control like weather that does not permit us to work.
When you start a job, do you stay until it is complete?
Yes. We are motivated to complete your project, as this is the way we are paid. Once we start your project, we stay on it each day until we are finished unless there are circumstances beyond our control like weather that does not permit us to work.
What about bathrooms?
We do ask for access to a bathroom as a courtesy. We will respect your privacy and your property in using the bathroom.
Will you clean up after the job is complete?
Yes. We do ask for access to a sink that we can use for cleanup or an outside source if that is not possible. Floors and carpets are swept and vacuumed and furniture placed back.
